UIF Online Application 2026: Apply at uifonline.labour.gov.za NOT uFiling

Big change in 2026! You claim UIF through UIF Online at uifonline.labour.gov.za, not through uFiling. uFiling stopped taking employee benefit claims on 20 May 2026, though the site is still live and still accepts applications that go nowhere.

Official Site: uifonline.labour.gov.za

Who Can Claim UIF?

You qualify if you contributed to UIF, worked more than 24 hours per month, are unemployed/retrenched/contract ended, and are not receiving salary. You cannot claim if you resigned voluntarily unless constructive dismissal at CCMA.

You must apply within 6 months of your last working day.

Documents You MUST Have:

South African ID (13-digit) or passport + permit
UI-19 form – signed by your last employer (confirms last day and reason)
Bank confirmation letter / 3 months bank statement in YOUR name
Last 6 payslips
Service certificate / termination letter
Proof you’re registered as work seeker

How to Apply for UIF Online 2026 Step-by-Step:

Step 3: Apply for Benefits
Click Benefit Application and Payments > Apply for Benefits > Choose Unemployment Benefits > Accept terms

Step 6: Upload Documents & Submit
Upload UI-19 and all docs. You will get SMS/email with reference number.
