SASSA Lost SIM Card? Here’s How to Change Your Number in 2 Minutes!
Lost your SIM card linked to SASSA SRD R370? Don’t worry, you can still change it!
Many people lose their SIM and can’t get SASSA OTP. Here is official method to update your number:
METHOD 1: Online (Fastest – 2026)
- Go to gov24.co.za/sassa-change-number
- Click “Change Phone Number”
- Enter your South African ID Number
- Enter your NEW phone number (must be RICA’d in YOUR name)
- Enter OTP sent to new number
- Wait 7-14 days for SASSA to approve
METHOD 2: WhatsApp
Send to 082 046 8553:
Hi
Reply with: 4 (Change contact)
Enter new number
METHOD 3: USSD
Dial 1347737# on NEW number
Follow prompts > Change Phone Number
IMPORTANT RULES 2026:
- New number must be in YOUR name (RICA)
- You can only change number once per month
- SASSA takes 7-21 days to verify
- If it says “ID already exists”, your old number is still active – call 0800 60 10 11
